Heavenly Worship

Lost in the splendor of His Glory
Rev. 4:8
“‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,
who was, and is, and is to come.”

Worship is to ascribe to God who eternally He is.

Rev. 4:11
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things,
and by your will they were created and have their being.”

Worship is to praise God for all that He has created and done.

Worship on earth can never compare to that in heaven. However, it can only spur us on to immerse in God's being and doing, and be eternally grateful.

Revelation 4 (New International Version)

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.
In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
“‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”

Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

BGR for secondary school students?

This is not a professionally made short film but it is definitely real and original. It is made in Chinese language.

There are many things we could criticize about this film:
  • Acting is so "green"
  • Language spoken is so unrefined (but it has a deep rooted local flavour)
  • Prop is so simple
However, I still want to share this with you.
  • Courage - The producer and actors / actresses are all about 16 years old
  • Christian value is clearly stated (though some thought that this would make people of other faith to "boycott" the film)
  •  Entertaining - the unprofessional part of the acting touches us and makes us laugh
Before we make judgment and laugh at this group of artists, shall we ask ourselves, "What did you do when you were 16 years old?" At the very least, they enthusiastically share with others a very controversial issue facing secondary school students, and they are courageous to state their religious stand in the film.

Don't you think they deserve a thumb up and encouragement from us?

Are you helping or spoiling him?

Today's Quote (Rick Godwin):

You can help others when you do for them what they can't do for themselves, but not when you do for them what they won't do for themselves!

如果你为他做他无法胜任的事,那是真正帮助了他;

**********************************************************

This is especially true in a family situation. When a parent helps a child, you need to know whether he or she is not capable to do it or just simply lazy to do it. We propagate "helping is a virtue". It can only be true if your child truly needs that help, he or she is not escaping from responsibilities.

Financial needs are the same. We would put our money in things we value the most. It may be investments, savings, a car, a house, children's education, IT gadgets, charities etc. In real life, everyone has limited resources. We need to prioritize our spending. Financial help should be given to those who are genuinely in need, not to those who are unwilling to spend their money on it, while choosing to spend on something less important.

Just to give an example. A father may spend a huge sum on a good restaurant dinner but find it a struggle to buy text books for the children. Should we help by giving him money to buy the text books? This may be needed in the short term to help the children. Helps can be in various forms and could have more lasting effect. Should we send him for a financial planning and budgeting course? Should we share with him how to prioritize his spending? Should we help in building a responsible value system in him?

Next time before we offer help, pause and think whether we are actually "helping" or "spoiling" the person.

Walking with Jesus everyday

A relationship with Christ isn't about a Sunday morning event, it's about letting Him into every single area of our lives.

************************************
I would say the quote probably misses out an important word "only". I believe a relationship with Christ involves a faithful attendance of every Sunday morning's event, not out of compulsion and obligation, but out of our love relationship with Christ and with our brothers and sisters.

"Sunday Christian" is definitely not what our Father has in mind for His children. He looks forward to seeing and hearing us daily and in every single part of our lives.

The hard question is "Do we allow Him to enter into every area of our lives?" It is worth our time to think it over.

Persistent Love

Today's Quote For Meditation (Mother Teresa)

Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired.

***********************************
At the height of our zeal and emotions, we can love extraordinarily. A kind of love that could attract thousands of admirers and applause. However, when love gets tough, when the object whom you love becomes unlovable, we may no longer persevere and keep loving. We truly need God's love to keep on loving without giving up.

God and I having personal relationship?

Quote For Meditation (God's Warriors)

Christianity is not a religion. It is a personal relationship with Jesus/Yeshua - the "King of Kings" and "Lord of Lords!"

Men like religions. Religions are standard Do's and Dont's which we can handle very well. As long as we use our brain to think, we can easily decide either follow or not follow the religious laws.

Christian faith is different. It is through a personal relationship with the Creator God that we will want to walk upright with Him. The bible is the ultimate guide on God's holy standard for Christians and non-believers alike. The whole counsel of God is revealed clearly within. However, it is reconciled relationship with the Father, a personal walk with the Lord Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit, that we can slowly understand God's will and begin to walk in biblical holiness. This is a whole life-long process of Sanctification until we are in glory with the Lord that we become perfect as He is perfect.

God's truth is both objective and subjective.

Before you call me a heresy, let me explain.

God's truth is objective because it is the revealed truth from God. It does not change when men and their circumstances / environment change. It's absolute and without compromise.

God's truth is subjective because God desires us to experience His truth by living it out.

When truth is objective alone, it becomes tablets of Laws and Regulations revealed and exhibited by God to tell us about His will. We can obey it and yet not knowing God.

When truth is subjective alone, it becomes the product of our emotions and wild imaginations. We interpret God's word through the lens of our human mind, soul and even environment.

To me what make Christian faith different is mainly this: By having a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus, I walk with Him to understand the revealed word of God. I depend on the Holy Spirit to strengthen me to walk my faith.

I treasure the fellowship with the Lord to read His word, worship Him as my King, praise Him for all that He has done for me, share my deepest secrets without fear and draw the spiritual strength to live a victorious Christian life. They are the most precious moments. I will never trade that relationship for anything more or anything less.

I remember this chorus which I loved to sing during my university days. It has no religion, no rules and regulations, no theologies......It simply reminds me of the preciousness of the Christian faith: Jesus loves me and the Lord Jesus and I have an intimate personal relationship.

Thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus,
thank you Lord for loving me (X2)

You went to Calvary, there you died for me,
thank you Lord for loving me (X2)

You rose up from the grave, to me new life you gave, thank you Lord, for loving me. (X2)

My words have much power!

Quote For Meditation:

As a tree gives fruit, healing words give life; but dishonest words crush the spirit. (Proverbs 15:4)

**********************************

Most of the times, we speak without realizing that those words hurt another person badly. Out of our anger, sometimes even out of sincerity, we speak. We are so careless in our words that we leave a deep scar in another's heart. Yes. The Lord in His grace and mercy can heal that scar but they are words from our mouth that cause it. We praise God with beautiful words, but we treat God's created men with contempts.

James 3:9-12
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

******************************

Dear brothers and sisters, let the Holy Spirit controls our tongues. Speaking the truth in love is what the bible tells us to do. Whose truth is that? God's truth? "Truth" understood by our minds? "Truth" colored by our traditions? "Truth" that comforts our flesh? So much "truths" have been spoken (or written) which do not lead people to repentance but to depression.

"God, have mercy on us." This is my only plea to our gracious Lord. I begin to understand what Prophet Isaiah meant, "“Woe to me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips."

I share it with you out of good intention...really?

Quote For Meditation:

A gossip is always a gossip. A “well intended“ gossip can never become a blissful prayer request.

**********************
Matthew 12:34-37
For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

***********************
This quote strangely came to me in a dream. I woke up and felt led to share it via Facebook. Being Christians, we tend to share of situations of our brothers and sisters for prayers. It is a good and noble thing to do provided the person concerned gives consent to share as a prayer item. If things shared with us in confidence, we accidentally or deliberately "gossip" them out, it breaches the trust between two good friends. Let us be very careful in our words. In James 3:2, it says, "Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check."
